    I doubt they'll work.
Unless the fans can also scrounge up the money to pay for another season.

Considering how little it costs to produce this series compared to something like DIS/SNW, it almost seems like it's getting canned simply because some of the higher-ups don't like it.

How little does it cost compared with those other series?

Yep, the higher-ups hate it so much they let it run for five seasons, which by today's standards can be considered a full run.

    Really?

Well, hang on now... We know that Paramount Global is still looking to get bought by someone. Who that is (as far as I know) has yet to be determined. Different bids have been dropped by different conglomerates. Could P.G. be letting these shows die off to make their bottom line look more appealing for purchase? Less expense = more margin = more value? Maybe I'm talking out of my ass here (my predatory market skills are a little rusty - as in, non-existent!) It feels to me like they're thinning the herd, not because they hate the franchise, but they're trying to leverage as much money as possible for the buy-out.

Shows typically become more expensive the longer they run due to contractual pay increases among other things.

Paramount is clearly cutting costs and the impending takeover is no doubt a reason.

They are cutting costs, but the impending takeover is not the main reason. Paramount has been having some financial difficulties for a while, and cost cutting measures are happening across the board.

 I forgot we have a member of the Paramount Global board of directors with us to inform us with absolute certainty of high-level behind-the-doors conversations.

    "Hatred"? :guffaw:

My goodness! Your definition of "hatred" seems to differ drastically from mine. More like simple corporate book-massaging S.O.P. prior to a buy-out. But "hatred", though?

How curiously perpendicular. I re-iterate: :guffaw:

Now waiting in eager anticipation as you remind me how long you've worked in the mental health care profession and you know about these things...

A simple response to what prompted my comment, from the comment below.

My definition of hatred has nothing to do with it.

Still not seeing any "hatred" in either of those posts, but you do you...

More assuming the higher ups are hating a series and therefore that's why they cancelled it.

Not that we hate it. Well, I don't. Maybe you...

But, as you note, yeah it's probably SOP business right now for Paramount in terms of prepping for the sale. Which is fine by me. Or it will crash and burn. Equally fine.

    Hate what, exactly?

    The series?

    Corporate machinations?

Mimes? Full disclosure - I do hate mimes. And clowns. And pedal steel guitars. And potholes. I mean, everyone hates potholes, amiright?

    Gazpacho?

You'll need to be more specific.

    The show.

The implication by others is that the higher ups hates LD so they cancelled it. Rather than corporate machinations, which I agree are also very easy to hate.

    Mimes and clowns...I don't like.

Potholes suck something awful. Thankfully, my mechanic realigns the car for free and insurance will bill the county :)

No idea what Gazpacho is, so I might hate it...?

 You obviously missed my opening post in the Fifth Season is Final Season thread when I first heard about the corporate suits’ decision to end the show:[IMG]

Come to think of it, I do really hate those motherfuckers.
