Especially after more mainstream movies such as Everything, Everywhere, All at Once and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Edit: As for SciTrek's rumor? They've shot seven episodes already. That ain't happening. Inside source? Yeah, right.
SciTrek’s track record is so rough that I almost wonder if he really does have “sources,” but they’re making a side hustle out of fucking with him left and right for lulz.
It's true, they've shot seven episodes already. That said, if they wanted to, they could toss the thing and use it as a tax write-off (a la Batgirl). We're probably getting S3. S4 may well be cut back to a movie to round out the series.
The likelihood of us not getting season 3 is nil. Season 4 will depend on how season 3 does. It will not have anything to do with some YouTuber’s rumor mongering and his “sources.”
I don't know if old skool episodic TV is going to work as an economic model anymore. In the pre-streaming days, there was no such thing as "binge watching." You either tuned in every week or you waited for the DVD. If everyone is waiting until the end of the season to binge watch all at once, P+ is having to sell ads for episodes that no one is watching!
I see the random Youtuber who claims they have inside sources circle of nonsense has reached the "show has been cancelled" point again...
Given the SciTrek host's British accent, I'm guessing he's based out of the UK. P+ UK has leaked stuff in the past (P+ UK leaked the Disco S5 premiere date). The further away you get from headquarters (Read: Los Angeles), the more apt people are to talk. He may well have sources at P+ UK. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Besides, if the thread is called "News? Stories from Dubious Sources," you HAVE to know what you're letting yourself in for.
That’s your choice. Me? If I had a nickel for everyone who had an “inside source,” I’d be ungodly rich. I’m not sure how old you are, but you get less trusting of this stuff. And yes, I understand the point of this thread. I was a proponent of it when it was started. It doesn’t mean people won’t call BS on things posted here.
There are still plenty of episodic shows in production. Most of them are on the networks, but even streaming services have episodic shows. The Mandalorian, for example. Binge watching actually began in the era of DVDs. Back then it was more commonly known as "marathon viewing" but it was basically the exact same thing.
He's gotten a lot wrong regarding Stargate and Babylon 5, though, including something that prompted J. Michael Straczynski himself to come out and dispel it. Unequivocally true, LOL.
Seriously? JMS actually had to pop in somewhere to lay a smack down on SciTrek who was speaking factual falsehoods about B5? Wow! That’s a … dubious distinction. That’s like having Roddenberry, Lucas or Larson send a post telling someone to STFU.
B5 is a fluid situation (Every time the show is on the verge of coming back, Warner Bros. gets sold! )
Your confusing timelines with universes and the animated series are in the Prime Universe, hence the SNW Lower Decks crossover. Most of the other universes are just spice for the Prime Universe, its at this moment only the Kelvin Universe that challenges it for supremacy. And there is more universes then Prime, Terran, and Kelvin. There is: 1. Fluidic Space 2. Q Continuim 3. The mini universe from DS9 4. Magan Universe shown in TAS were there is magic 5. All the different universes shown in the TNG episode Parrells. Other I forget.
I doubt Paramount makes that distinction. Jack Crusher: "I thought you died ..." Q: "You think too linearly."
