Thought I'd add a little local flavor even though I don't live in Oak Ridge it's beside me and my granny worked on the first Atom Bomb there (it was HQ for the Manhattan Project). The text you can't see (unless you've got implants for eyes) reads "Home of the Atomic Bomb and below (where I cut off)" Birthplace of the Atomic Bomb" which in case you didn't know is 100% accurate,

Sooooo yeah in case you were wondering I was in a F04, FNV, F03 kinds mood. I still can't figure out why there isn't an Oak Ridge FO --- even an expansion, especially since ORNL does so much even today. At least all that made sense to my sleep deprived mind. :D

I use power armor almost exclusively in FO4. I am able to keep it well maintained and modified (recon sensors, jump jets or stealth field, red tactical light, extra carrying capacity).

The only time I step my character out of my PA is when I am back at The Castle to repair, rest, and barter, or if she has to step out to use a terminal in a building. Otherwise, my character wears the PA like constant second skin. Add to that, the fact that she wears the Grognak the Barbarian outfit which adds to her strength. With the T-60 modified PA, she is almost (almost) a walking juggernaut. At the moment, I have 98 fusion cores to energize my PA, and I have my perks set to where they pretty much double the length of time a fusion core will last. I don't think I have to worry about losing power for my armor any time soon. :)

I horde weapons too. Don't know just how many Legendary weapons and armor I have, but it is a lot.... more than I can count on two hands. I have a weapon on me for just about any situation. (Just about.) I have a Legendary assault rifle that causes a lot of damage, as well as bleeding damage...very handy against most targets. I also have an anti-robot shotgun. Pretty much any weapons I acquire, if I can suppress them, I do. I like to play stealthy when I can. My sneak is maxed out. I also carry a couple of swords which do considerable damage (especially poison damage, which comes in handy against larger targets like deathclaws and super mutants. I have many Fat Men weapons, and enough mini-nukes to glass a small country, but I really don't use them.

Right now, I am running the Automaton campaign, and where I normally exclusively use my companion, Dogmeat, this time, I'm having him sit out whilst I work with Ada, my automaton companion for this campaign. Once I finish this add on, I will go back to having Dogmeat at my side.

This game could stand to take a clue from Far Cry Primal, in that, after I have killed an enemy, it should not be a chore to try and find them. FCP marks kills as small Xs on a minimap. There should be a way to more easily find your kills in FO4. :)

Hey guys I just made a mod that rebalances Kellogg's Armor and sets DR and ER to 60. Vanilla had these values set at 30 which when you consider that it can't upgrade it at the bench or wear armor addons like leg or chest pieces the way you can with leathers and other armors feel about right for a player that has hit at least lvl 20. The new stats will put Kellogg's Armor just slightly below what you'd get with Ballistic Weave MkIII.

At any rate if you like modding your game or just love the look of this armor but hate the stats, check it out on its Nexus page and if you like it please endorse.

I came across this picture today on the Bethesda forums and absolutely loved it, as it's essentially the character I'm playing right now; Someone who obsessively picks up literally every single junk item she spots and hauls it all back to the nearest workbench. Only difference is she's always running around in power armor simply because the carry weight bonus is too good to pass up. Also using Ada as a pack mule. Only things I'm not picking up are weapons and armor (too much weight) and folders, subway tokens, and burnt books/magazines since even though they're weightless, you can't do anything with them. I tried doing this once in New Vegas (with a pack brahmin mod) but eventually gave up since it ultimately seemed pointless, but since every junk item yields crafting components on FO4, there's at least some method to the madness.

Once survival mode comes out for realz, I'll be switching to a lucky gunslinger who only picks up the absolute essentials, so that'll be a relief. :p

Anyone else here like to mod? I'm asking because I'm extremely disappointed in the newest Creation Kit (the first version of FO4's creation kit was good). This one though is overly ambitious combining console modding with PC modding - wtf??? To add insult to injury Bethesda wants mods published on their site (presumably cuz consoles). And look I loooove the fact mods are finally coming to console gamers but it should not be at the expense of combining the kit and making it a bit more difficult for modders.

Look, don't get me wrong I'm not anti-console (I started with an inherited Odyssey and really only stopped buying them with the WII as that's when the price point got absurd to me - might as well invest in a better box) but I AM very anti-fucking the PC users over because you think it's a better market. I feel devs have really developed a hate for PC gamers and not just Bethesda and that makes me sad as the PC is where we can have far more adult games, better graphics and mods.

    /rant

PS. Am I crazy for feeling this way? What's wrong with splitting the kit and showing some respect to the one who brung ya which was PC gamers back in the day? Games change and should always be available to all, imo, but when devs fall in love with a particular group they screw a lot of people.

You're absolutely not crazy feeling this way. Personally, as someone who plays this version of Fallout on console(s), I'm not even interested in mods on those platforms, I play there specifically to play it as vanilla and laidback as possible. On my couch, in my fucking man cave.

For mods and shits and giggles, I go to my gaming PC. Where I sit upright, on a desk, in an office setting.

Trying to merge both worlds is a neat concept in an abstract sense, but not something a lot of people actually want in practice.

Most Bethesda game stand on their own well enough and it can be nice not to worry about the bugginess their PC games are known for. I like playing Fallout with a controller sometimes but when it comes to TES the keyboard and mouse is my preference.

Which reminds me... I'm strongly considering a Steam Controller since it combines aspects of a controller, trackpad/mouse and even makes some games work well using it with a keyboard. I've been researching it for ~5 months or so and understand it has a learning curve and that not all games are optimized for it but the more I learn the more I like. I just wish I could get my hand one IRL.

These days you can get away with a laptop most of the time. I do most of my gaming there but since I'm not into FPS's anymore (they were better on console anyway, imo) and am perfectly happy running my game on High instead of Ultra. Hell, with a little know how and/or research it's easy, I can run F04 + mods on my laptop. OTOH, some game won't run on even great rigs because they're so poorly coded.

I just wish they'd give us two kits. Looking at the software all the consoles + pc options make it far more confusing and more difficult to learn and execute. It's the kind of thing that may well stop novice modders from bothering and the community loses.

It won't impact the big semi-professional modders but for others this hybrid kit will discourage a lot of would be modders from using it and sometimes it'd those little mods that become so meaningful and leave you wondering 'why wasn't this here from the start?' I'm afraid the additions will discourage people from trying.

That said, Bethesda has listened to their audience and changed course before. And the kit always gets a bit better as more updates are added. I just don't have a great feeling about their motives here.

Just picked this up for $30 for Xbox during Bethesda's recent sale (haven't played any of the others before, but I have played some of Skyrim).

It's taking over my life. :scream:

NVIDIA has produced a Fallout 4 mod that improves the game's graphics and adds a new location and storyline. It's called Vault 1080, and will be released tomorrow (Sept. 2).

    Link with pics

    Trailer:

Due to the nature of the mod, I think it's safe to say it's not coming to consoles. ;)
